4-H is a youth organization committed to building outstanding leaders with marketable skills to succeed in today’s global society. 4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.
What is 4-H?
4-H Youth Development is part of Kentucky Cooperative Extension. Extension’s vision is the trusted, local resource for every Kentuckian. Our mission is to engage with Kentuckians to connect them with resources, research, and innovative solutions. Extension agents and volunteers take the results of university research and explain it in such a way that different age groups can learn and apply the information to their own lives. Kentucky 4-H believes in providing positive youth development experiences that all youth to experience belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.

4-H Clubs & Events
The Baking Club is for youth 9-13. They will learn their way around the kitchen, how to properly use measuring instruments, and bake delicious food.
This event will be held monthly.

Laugh and Learn is a free program for youth ages 2-5. This program works on school readiness and has many fun activities. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cloverbud club is for youth ages 5-8 and is held monthly after school. Youth will make a fun and nutritional snack each day, as well as learn through hands-on activities. Cloverbuds will teach youth good character and citizenship.

West Kentucky 4-H Camp is located in Dawson Springs. The 465 acres includes a fresh-water lake, fishing dock, high and low rope course, archery & rifle ranges, a swimming pool, athletic fields, and dining halls + cabins.

4-H Summer Day Camps are for any youth entering grades 4 and up. Each program lasts one day and is a fun and affordable way for children to enjoy their summer. Classes can change from summer to summer.
The classes offer for the summer of 2023 are the following: Baking Project Day, Photography Project Day, Wood Science Day, Gardening and Horticulture Day, Arts and Home Project Day, Sewing Project Day, Cupcake Wars Project Day.

For youth ages 9-15. They will freely be able to create and explore by using Lego's. Where they can build dream worlds, make realistic towns, or just have fun.
Get creative with us once a month and prepare fair worthy art pieces. Ages 9-13.
Learn basic tool and building knowledge, and create fair worthy projects. Ages 9-13
How does 4-H benefit youth?
4-H’ers, regardless of their background, socio-economic status, race or gender, benefit from their participation in Kentucky 4-H. Positive youth development studies have affirmed that compared to other youth, young people involved in 4-H are:
- Four times more likely to contribute to their communities.
- Two times more likely to be civically active.
- Two times more likely to make healthier lifestyle choices.
- Two times more likely to participate in Science, Engineering and Computer Technology programs during out-of-school time.
- 4-H girls are two times more likely (Grade 10) and nearly three times more likely (Grade 12) to take part in science programs compared to girls in other out-of-school time activities.
